What is the Sustainability and Transformational Partnership?
What is the STP?
The Mid and South Essex Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP) is a partnership of the 14 NHS organisations and councils that are responsible for your health and wellbeing, if you live in mid and south Essex.
Over the next five years, our partnership will make bigger investments, promote more innovation and achieve greater improvements in health and wellbeing than each of our member organisations would be able to achieve separately.
Our Partnership is one of 44 STPs in England. You can see on the map below the area we cover, including the boroughs and districts of Basildon, Braintree, Brentwood, Castle Point, City of Chelmsford, Maldon, Rochford, Southend-on-sea and Thurrock.
Map could be a clickable pop-up. Also includes some basic numbers:
- 2 million residents
- 179 GP practices
- 5 clinical commissioning groups (CCGs)
- 3 local authorities providing social care
- 3 main hospitals – in Southend, Basildon and Chelmsford
Our Partnership first published a plan for mid and south Essex in September 2016. In 2017/18, we followed up with a consultation document setting out some proposed service changes. This led to decisions about hospital developments and further plans to invest in GP practices and other community services.
During 2019/20, we will review and refresh the five-year plan for mid and south Essex in the light of the national NHS Long Term Plan, which was published in January 2019.
